After rebirth as light, it is inevitable to fight continuously against darkness to live a new life as light. The design abstractly symbolizes light and armor.
 
"It destroys your previous soul." means removing the old, vague, undefined soul that might have clouded your past self. It suggests that the pain reveals a new clarity, exposing the core of who you truly are and presenting a choice for transformation. In essence, it implies that this pain clears away the "grey" areas, leaving you to choose a path of light or darkness in response to the experience.
